Many of the older KSU models at the top of the photo are still in operation today. (308,616,CICS,MICS) These legacy systems are out of production. Nortel subsequently released a new generation of hybrid IP enabled telephone systems called Business Communications Manager or BCM for short.These systems could run both digital and IP telephones. Softphones were added as was the ability to use SIP trunks. When Nortel filed for chapter 11 in 2009, the SMB division was bought by Avaya. Avaya made it so you could use your Norstar telephones on the IP office platform so you will still see the T series telephones around quite often.
Programming for the older Key systems is always done through a programming telephone. The programming telephone will have 3 keys below the LCD screen where the time and date are displayed. The M7310, M7324,T7316 & T7316e are all programming phones. To get into the programming, you will require the login and password.( Feature**266344 then 266344 again) You will notice four of the line keys to the right will now show triangles.
Use these keys to navigate the menu’s.
If you have any issues programming your Norstar telephones, we offer remote technical assistance and can usually re-program these Norstar telephone systems with you over the telephone for $35 per 1/4 hr. We have found that most of the programming issues are simple to resolve & can be remedied in under 1/2 hr over the telephone cutting your costs by 2/3.
